At last September’s visit to the kelp farm, we learned about the Shinnecock Kelp Farmers’ long history of caring for our environment, along with their efforts to improve water quality by growing sugar kelp. Attendees observed hatchery operations and took the opportunity to wade into Shinnecock Bay to see the out-planting process up close. Now it’s time to help maintain the farm and learn the next steps towards harvest. Join us to learn about this fascinating process, don waders to see the growing kelp up close, and find out how you can lend a hand with the upcoming harvest.
$5/person suggested donation. Space is limited, reservations required. High winds/poor water conditions cancel.
