About
Our Farms for the Future program continues to expand. The Trust recently acquired 30 acres from Mattituck Farm Holdings, which will be leased to farmers participating in the Farms for the Future Initiative Program. This new land will help us support even more growers as they establish and strengthen their farm businesses.
Preparing the Fields
The Trust secured a grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to support critical infrastructure upgrades at the new center. In October, a deer fence was installed around the 30‑acre property to safeguard future crops. Much like the Agriculture Center at Charnews, this site will also include a barn, providing farmers with valuable storage space throughout the winter months.

Given the size of the property, a second irrigation well was added midway down the field to ensure all farmers have convenient access to a reliable water source. While there is still plenty of work ahead before the growing season begins, we are thrilled to continue expanding the Farms for the Future program and increasing our overall field capacity.
