Meaningful Impact | Browder's Birds

In the early 2000s, Chris Browder and his wife Holly were looking for a change. A banker, Chris was ready to move onto something that connected him with the land and community, and his idea for pasture-raised poultry found its initial home at the Trust’s Ag Center at Charnews Farm. The Trust had acquired the Charnews farmland in 2008 with a plan of leasing land to both new and established farmers. Chris and Holly applied for this new program and launched Browder’s Birds in 2010. Today, the Browders have continued to farm – and expanded their operation – on farmland acquired from the Trust in 2012 on Oregon Road in Mattituck.
