Another Successful Seeding at the Farm
April 10, 2026

You know spring is officially right around the corner when it’s time to fill the seed trays. And that’s exactly what happened on the sunny, cool morning of March 21, when a full house gathered for Quail Hill Farm’s annual seeding workshop.
Farm members and friends from across the region — including participants who traveled from as far as Huntington — rolled up their sleeves and joined in the simple joy of getting their hands dirty. Together, the group carefully sowed more than 163 trays of seeds, each one a small but meaningful step in the growing season ahead. These trays now rest in the farm’s greenhouse, where warmth and patience will help them begin their journey toward the open fields of Quail Hill Farm.
More than 25 varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowerswere started, including eggplant, peppers, broccoli, lettuce, scallions, parsley, and an array of beautiful blooms. Each tiny seed holds the promise of nourishment, color, and connection.
As the seedlings sprout and grow into sturdy young plants, many will be available for home gardeners to purchase at the farm’s beloved Annual Plant Sale on May 23, 10am-3pm — a wonderful opportunity to bring a bit of Quail Hill Farm into your own garden.
The program was led by Senior Farm Manager Madison Aldrich (Madi), along with Farm Coordinators Bryn Castille and Madison Reid, whose expertise and enthusiasm helped guide participants through each step of the seeding process.
The growing season has begun! But don’t worry, there are many upcoming chances to dig in the rich soil at the farm! Please join us on Saturday, May 16 from 10am to 12pm, when we will transplant the sprouts that so many hands helped us grow.
At Quail Hill Farm, spring doesn’t simply arrive — it is planted, nurtured, and celebrated together.
