Save the Date: Tuesday, December 3: Giving Tuesday
We are excited to be partnering with #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 for an international day of giving back to our community. For more information on #GivingTuesday and how you can participate, contact Kathy Kennedy or Lisa Pepe at 631.283.3195 or visit our Volunteer page.
And Thank You to our special GivingTuesday partners:
- Maxwell Ryan and Apartment Therapy: They will be spreading the word about their support of the Peconic Land Trust to their readers -- and encouraging support to double their own charitable gift to the Trust!
- The Milk Pail: The Halsey family -- John, Evelyn, Amy and Jennifer -- will be donating a portion of proceeds from the Milk Pail on December 3rd to the Trust's Annual Fund! Visitors to the Milk Pail can also make additional donations -- and a surprise treat will be on hand for all who visit.
Year after year, development pressure facing landowners of working farms and natural lands continues to increase; placing what remains of our rural heritage and scenic vistas at extraordinary risk. The Peconic Land Trust’s mission is to conserve these precious resources that are at risk of being lost forever.
As the need for the Trust’s work continues to grow, the keystone of our success remains the support of our donors. We depend on the generous support of donors to continue our land conservation and stewardship work.
Charitable contributions to the Peconic Land Trust may be made in the form of cash, stock, or asset property. The Trust organizes an annual fundraising program, as well as hosts numerous Special Event opportunities for the public to not only contribute to the Trust’s work but see first hand how funds raised by the Trust are used to conserve the working farms, natural lands, and heritage of the community.
For more information on Making a Gift to the Peconic Land Trust, contact Rebecca A. Chapman, Vice President of Philanthropy at 631.283.3195.
Many believe that the funds raised by the 2% real estate transfer tax (Community Preservation Fund) go to Peconic Land Trust for its conservation programs. This is incorrect! The Peconic Land Trust raises its funds through charitable gifts and payment for professional services. The 2% real estate transfer fee paid by buyers goes directly to the Town in which the property purchased is located.
Many companies encourage charitable giving by matching the donations of their employees. Please check with your Human Resources department to see if your gift to Peconic Land Trust qualifies and if so, obtain a matching gift form. Just send it with your donation to the Trust and we will process it for you. If you have any questions, please contact Rebecca A. Chapman. The Peconic Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. All gifts made to the Trust are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
