2% TAX

Many believe that the funds raised by the PDF 2% real estate transfer tax (Community Preservation Fund) go to Peconic Land Trust for its conservation programs. This is incorrect! The Peconic Land Trust raises its operating budget through charitable gifts and payment for professional services. The 2% real estate transfer fee paid by buyers goes directly to the Town in which the property purchased is located.

Year after year development pressure facing landowners of working farms and natural lands continues to increase; placing what remains of our rural heritage and scenic vistas at extraordinary risk. The Peconic Land Trust’s mission is to conserve these precious resources that are at risk of being lost forever.

Annual Fund Brochure 2010As the need for the Trust’s work continues to grow, the keystone of our success remains the support of our donors. We depend on the generous support of donors to continue our land conservation and stewardship work.

Charitable contributions to the Peconic Land Trust may be made in the form of cash, stock, or asset property. The Trust organizes an annual fundraising program, as well as hosts numerous Special Event opportunities for the public to not only contribute to the Trust’s work but see first hand how funds raised by the Trust are used to conserve the working farms, natural lands, and heritage of the community.
