Quail Hill Farm - a Stewardship project of the Peconic Land Trust
Quail Hill Farm, one of the original CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farms in the U.S., is located in Amagansett, New York, on land donated to the Peconic Land Trust by Deborah Ann Light. Since it was established in 1990, Quail Hill Farm has grown to 30 acres serving 200 families, as well as provides produce to a local school, nearby restaurants, a farmers market, and food pantries. Each year, Quail Hill Farm signs on to the “Farmer’s Pledge” of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York: “to sustain the land in healthy condition for future generations.”

Statement from John v.H. Halsey, President, Peconic Land Trust (November 30, 2010):
It is with a heavy heart that we confirm an accident today at Quail Hill Farm, a stewardship project of the Peconic Land Trust in Amagansett. At approximately 11:30 am, Josh Levine, market manager for the farm, lost his life in a tractor accident.
All of us at the Peconic Land Trust are deeply saddened by today’s tragic loss and our heartfelt sympathies go out to Josh’s family and friends.
Josh had been with Quail Hill for 3 years, initially joining the farm as a volunteer in 2008, then becoming a member of the summer apprentice program in 2009. Josh’s enthusiasm for farming and the Quail Hill community prompted his decision to stay on at the farm and to ultimately join the organization as a full-time staff member in the spring of 2010.
Please read Scott Chaskey's letter to the farm members on the passing of Josh.
